Five Main Myths & Misconceptions About Any MLM

Who wouldn’t want to start an internet home-based business these days? Each day seems to add more tension to the workday commute, not to mention the work day itself. When you take into consideration the bad weather, the rising per gallon gas cost, and frequent highway accidents, the home-based business idea is looking better and better.

However, before entering into a venture for a MLM home-based business, as with any business, it’s wise to get all your facts straight. If you’re new to the idea of multilevel marketing, you’ll need to be aware of the underestimated work ahead. The biggest reason why multilevel marketing has a bad name, is that people tend to buy into false hope, with no true desire or determination to seriously give their MLM business a real honest effort.

If you are starting a MLM home-based business, beware of the stumbling blocks below that will keep you “at the bottom of the pyramid”.

I would advise you to face all of these so-called myths head on, so you can protect yourself from any misconceptions (Note: Myth And/Or Misconception = M & M)…

FIRST M & M: THE SO-CALLED MLM “PYRAMID” IS ONLY ASSOCIATED WITH MLM COMPANIES

Companies that are actual pyramid schemes are usually defined as multilevel companies that do not have any product or service for sale. Pyramid scheme companies are against the law, but they are often confused with all the lawful MLM companies. The difference is that pyramids are structured to hold out for a limited time, and they are doomed to fail.

On the contrary, a lawful multilevel company, with a good product, generally grows stronger with every year, even in difficult economic times. As for the triangle shape of the pyramid, any large organization structure is in that same exact triangle shape. From large corporations, to churches, to girl scouts, etc!!

Perhaps you’ve heard that the people at the top (upline) have the most cash flow, and that’s true, but it’s the same as with any large corporation run by a CEO. The larger cash flow is not due to when the person started their MLM business, or who is in their upline. The cash flow is mostly due to the size and status of your individual downline.

The problem is that many of those “people at the bottom” usually expect unlimited and unreasonable help from their upline, and they don’t expect to work hard to build their own business. The truth is that, very often, a good downline can prove to be more helpful and successful than the sponsor who recruited them.

SECOND M & M: THE INCOME WILL COME QUICKLY AND EASILY

You can achieve that thousand dollar monthly level, but it doesn’t come without enough time and hard work. Contrary to the “silver platter”, it might take at least 100 recruits before you can get that $1000 of residual monthly income. The establishment of an online home-based MLM business requires sacrifice of both money and time.

When you have money to spend, the amount of time to build your business can be less ; but if you’re low on cash, be prepared to spend a lot more time building your business! However, if you’re lacking in both extra time and money, then be prepared to spend a lot longer period of time on your MLM business! Your success is as sure as your burning desire, and devotion.

As long as you are very persistent and consistent in what you do, and don’t give up, it’s very possible to achieve the success you desire and deserve. It just takes time and perseverance. Be careful to have a plan when you join any MLM opportunity. Don’t buy into hope; buy into a business opportunity with a plan to roll-up-your-sleeves and work, and stick to your plan, man (or woman)!

THIRD M & M: THE ONLY GOOD MLM IS A “GROUND FLOOR OPPORTUNITY”

There is some truth-to-the-rumor that a new company can bring big money to those who came in (joined) at the ground floor level, assuming that particular company goes on to be successful. On the contrary, a superior networking company actually becomes stronger as the years go by.

You don’t have to make any quick decisions when pressured by a recruiter, because time is on your side. However, obviously, the sooner you get started, the sooner you can build your team, and your monthly residual income.

FOURTH M & M: JUST WORK FOR TWO YEARS TO ESTABLISH YOUR BUSINESS, AND THEN IT IS ON AUTOPILOT

The sad truth is that many people are lazy, also many people are quitters. This is even true for those who are excited about the business initially, and start off doing very well. Bottom line, don’t expect to hang onto your original downline indefinately, no matter how good they are. The only thing you can really count on is numbers, and there are plenty of numbers (people) to be found online.

You just have to keep searching, and keep getting leads to convert, in order to continue adding “numbers” to your business. In other words, you can’t expect an ecommerce home-based business to automatically sell your products for you, but with the right internet traffic and potential prospects, you can expect to build a long-term successful MLM downline for you and your team!

In other words, your continued recruiting = your continued success. Or, you can stop your recruiting efforts any time you want to, but know that eventually some of your current downline will temporarily or permanently quit.

FIFTH M & M: AN ESTABLISHED MLM STARTS AT THE TOP, AND THE WEAKER RECRUITS ARE AT THE BOTTOM

Conversely, you can expect that a strong MLM team builds from the bottom up. Try to picture it in reverse; your strongest recruits are at the bottom, building your foundation. When they help other people, your business is steadily growing (all from the “foundation” you’ve setup) by finding the right people who are willing to work, and help each other on the team.

You, as the leader, are the foundation of the business, hence the bottom of the business. In conclusion, a successful MLM internet home-based business begins with you, and your system to train others, which, when done correctly, brings the sweet smell and satisfaction of MLM success!
